i am almost 5 weeks post op and i still struggle to get enough water in. I do wake up a couple times a night with a very dry mouth and i keep a water container next to my bed. But i know i am not getting enough water by the color of my pee which is what the surgeon told me to watch. water is difficult.

Yeah, a few of us suffer from episodes of dry mouth. Besides being a random menopausal symptom I think it also happens because we don’t have fat around our necks which used to help keep our mouths closed at night & we are likely sleeping differently (head position) & our lax muscles cause our mouths to droop open. Well that’s a bit of a theory I have.

I have water beside my bed too (I drink through out the night) but others have found success with Biotene which is a spray that moisturises the mouth.

some drugs will do that, too - like PPI's. I now use a dry mouth toothpaste and have things like dry mouth lozenges, sprays, and gels nearby all the time.

I used to drink a decent amount of water but after the surgery I really can't stand it. Or at least not in large quantities. I was drinking Crystal Light lemonade which was pretty good but still tough to get down a lot of. Then I went on vacation out of state and found this stuff called Milo's Sweet Tea (zero calorie), it tastes amazing and I couldn't get enough of it.

Unfortunately when I got home I discovered that they don't sell it near me. So I tried Crystal Light Sweet Tea and I think it tastes even better. I have 2-3 large glasses per day of that and could probably get more down if I wanted, but that plus the protein drink I have every morning gets me to over 64 oz per day.
