I am scheduled for August 17th !

Im waiting for my exact date but they told me it will be mid-August.

Has everyone been given a pre-op diet to start?

August 2nd! I was told I start my pre-op diet on the 19th. Has anyone seen what their pre-op diet is looking like? Curious to compare.

My surgery is scheduled for August 8th. The doc office I'm going through has a program where you come in and weigh 3 weeks before your surgery. If you are within 5 pounds of your pre-op goal then you only have to do the liquid diet for one week before surgery.

If not, you have to do two weeks of liquid diet.

On their liquid diet you can only have clear, sugar-free liquids and 4 shakes per day made with the protein powder they sell at their office mixed with milk or Mootopia (protein milk substitute). That's it.

Needless to say, I'm really aiming to be in that range where I only have to do one week of the liquid diet!

See that's what is kind of throwing me for a loop, according to the booklet I received I am able to have additionals aside from liquids. I have my final group nutrition class in a few weeks so I'll get more information then. Just surprised I could have more than liquids. Wow, your WLS doc allows a lot more than mine does! I've heard they are all different though.

Hi Connie! I just got my date today (so excited)! Im the day before you on the 16th. Also having the sleeve.

You're going to do great you want this more than anything! I'm going into surgery in 4 days. Like many of you I've waited a year and a half to prep for this. I'm doing this all on my own I don't have a lot of family or friends and I will be recovering completely on my own. The liver shrinking diet has by far been the biggest challenge. Make sure you find out a complete list of what you can and cannot have. I go online and I read about people being able to have vegetables and meat and here in Florida my doctor told me just clear broth and sugar-free popsicles and gelatin. I am very limited and my body is so tired.

That was a struggle to not want to eat everything the final week before starting my pre-op diet!

My RNY was on August 9th!

So far (today is post-op day 4), recovery hasn't been easy, but also hasn't been difficult. I don't seem to have any complications yet. It's REALLY difficult to get your water in when you are back home and not connected to the hospital IV 24/7. Pain has been managed with the prescription they gave me to take home; I take it every 6 hours.

I did 1 week of OptiFast (I got it from my doctor's office) and it was just shakes for a week. I lost 11 pounds. It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

There is an August 2022 thread over in the gastric sleeve forum. I've seen both sleeve and bypass patients post there.

I’m new..trying to figure out how to post…Connie…how was your surgery? How are you doing? We have the same stats (5.1’/231lbs). My surgery is September and I’m looking for surgery buddies but I just saw your post. I hope all went well for you?
