Would getting back labs results from another doctor interfere with my surgery? I’m waiting to hear back from an endocrinologist who had me do an cortisol test. I’m 2 months away from surgery day and I was curious.

Would depend upon what the results revealed & whether it had any direct impact upon your surgery & recovery. It’s always helpful if your surgeon is aware of all your health issues. It may not delay or halt your surgery but may help your surgeon better prepare for your surgery & support your recovery.

My doctor can see my blood work results requested by any of my doctors or specialists. Would think it would be the same in the US too. Got a printout of my last 6 lots of lab results from my surgeon’s colleague last month & it included two tests requested by my GP. I do go to the same pathology company for all my tests so not sure if that is a factor in what they can see.

Depends on what the results are. If they contraindicate surgery that's a good thing, you don't want to go into surgery if there's a problem that could endanger you.

It depends on what the results say and whether or not they'd impact your surgery in any way. Mostly it won't just pop up in your bariatric surgeon's screen but he/she can see most records from any and all of your doctors and labs in the system, so you should know that if for some reason you're trying to hide the results.

I discovered that my bariatric center does not have access to my medical records from my primary care physician or any other medical facilities. I make a point of sharing all test results with my bariatric surgeon.

Thank you everyone. I’m not in any way trying to keep anything from him. They have access to all my labs, including any future labs I get and each appointment they ask and I’m always honest. It just recently hit me that these results could set me back or have some impact on my outcome. He already knows about my PCOS and we are going ahead with surgery and these labs being done coincide with my PCOS so I was just curious and overthinking as I do. Thanks again. 😉

Curious if others have had nicotine blood tests? I was a smoker 21+ years ago but quit. Ive had 2 nicotine tests already and I was just told the other day that I had to get another 1 week before surgery. I may have been told but dont remember, why is this necessary?

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
