Surviving Optifast

Hi everyone. I started my 2 weeks of pre-op Optifast today. The shakes are okay but the soup is deadly. Had anyone found a way to make the soup tollerable? :help:

I couldn't stomach the soup, but I was told that if you add your daily allowance of vege and a bit of soy sauce it tastes much better. I ended up making my own soup with a bit of stock, curry and vege - then I was able to have a shake as well for dessert.

I find the Optifast soup is only really good for the bin. shakes are ok and the dessert is really quite nice.

I'm supposed to be on my pre-op optifast diet but have fallen off the wagon rather spectacularly. Bit nerve racking because my op in on 17 December. Will have to get back on and absolutely punish myself for the rest of the week.

I didn't like the chicken soup at all but I did like the tomato soup. I added bouillon because my sodium level was low and spices like garlic powder, italian seasonings, etc. I was on optifast for 14 weeks.

Doing the Optifast was a real test for me. I actually liked the chicken soup better than the shakes. The shakes smelled horrible to me and everytime I put it up to my mouth to take a drink it grossed me out. I added spices to the chicken soup. I didn't even attempt the tomato soup. To me...the chicken soup kind of tasted like gravy. I added things like garlic powder and season all. I didn't add too much because I didn't want to overload with sodium. Good luck and you can get through it...

I, too, am on my 10 day diet. I haven't lost any weight and am worried that once the band is on it won't be any different. Also, the liquid part of the diet is nasty and I would almost rather do without than drink it. I cannot get the lumps out. Any suggestions?

I am on day 9 of my Medifast diet. I dont know anything about Optifast, but are you allowed to add broth to your Soups to mix them? That has helped me tremendously, I am on my second jars of chicken and Beef boulion granules... on the lumps, could you use one of those drink mixers.. like the kind that you makes smoothies/milkshakes with? Just a thought.
