I had my preop endoscopy at TGH and it came back with chronic gastritis positive for intestinal metaplasia. Has anyone ever had this? And what was treatment? My hpylori was negative.

Scary Larry. situation- I too have chronic gastritis but happily without the metaplasia ; means you may be at higher risk for Barrets Esophagus, you have changes which aren't really good. Barretts can be a precursor for Esophageal Cancer, and Baby You Do not Want that! My first cousin June-Ellen died of that in May 2017 at 68, didn't know that she had it -thought she just had bad GERD - but died on the Operating Table at the Cleveland Clinic- and Oh I still miss her so Very Very MUCH. And happily I girded my loins, so to speak, continued to seek my RNY which I had on September 5th 2018 and my start down that road. was aborted. So PLEASE do watch close on THAT; don't leave those who ❤ you to cry and ask "Why?" like my family did. Glad your h. pylori was negative, that's ONE Thing to cross off the Bad Things list.
