  • Popular Post
My VSG is scheduled for January 7th, 2019. I have to get it done before school starts up, which is January 14th. Is anyone else celebrating getting a surgery date like I am!?

Right now I am trying hard to at least try to eat healthy, but it is so hard as i am having food funerals.

I did food funerals, too. Know how I said I started the pre-op diet a week early? Welllll, technically, it's true, but I started it on a Sunday and then on the next Sunday, my son, his gf, and I went to Chili's. There were ribs. And cake. But um, I didn't have any ?

Okay, I did have some, but I justified it by saying I'd started the pre-op diet a week early of my own, free will, and it wasn't really supposed to start 'til the next day in the first place. It made me retain water for a couple of days. I haven't cheated in the "official" 2 weeks before surgery, but it was a close thing one night. I made my son keep his donut sticks in his room, but they were right there on his tall dresser, which is visible through the crack he leaves in the door at night. So, it was 2 am, he was fast asleep, and my arm, of its own accord, started to stretchhh through the opening to ever so quietly purloin the box. I mean, nothing really counts at 2 am, right, and I'd forgotten to have a food funeral for Little miss Debbie!

Don't worry, I put it back ?

I had way too many food funerals this past week so I really need to stay 100% these two weeks lol

The food funerals make me feel SO guilty.

When I went to my Dr on the 9th, he reminded me to not have the mentality that i am going to the chair. Well thats hard to do!!!!
Even though he is telling me that eventually I will be able to eat some of my favorites again, I really don't know if that is going to be the best thing for me to even attempt to do.

Sigh

I didn't really even have a discussion with my dr about it...

but i ate a lot of carbs and I will be paying for it in the next few days. However, I am actually sick of food right now because I ate a lot more than I have been in months so hopefully I feel this way for two weeks LOL

See, I am so glad this place exists.
I can say this type of stuff to my hubby and he would look at me like I have 2 heads. He just does NOT get it.

Amen! LOL .....mine is the same way

I’m in the good funeral type of mind today and it’s only day one! ?? I swear I looked at the captain crunch cereal like a lion after it’s prey ? I said nope walking away with my delicious wild berry protein shake.... ?
I haven’t had a food funeral yet, but I’m having those food shaking their curvy body cravings. It’s the, “I know you want me. Come and get it big boy!”

My surgery is on 1/22. I am so nervous but looking forward. It is the fear of complications or even dying.

You will be fine...the rate of complications is so low. I will probably feel this way though before my surgery in two weeks. Just keep telling yourself why you are doing it :)

I was a little nervous because I've never had surgery, but the nurses and surgical team took such great care of me. Actually, from the moment I checked in every single person I interacted with was so warm and caring that it helped put me at ease. If you're still feeling nervous on surgery day, let them know and I'm sure they'll accommodate with some kind of medication to calm your nerves.

I feel the same way, CaribeRidge. I'm terrified, to be totally honest. Not the most positive thing to say, but the truth, nevertheless. Logically, it's a good gamble for me, the surgery, but I've never been much of a gambler. Even in Vegas, I stick to penny and nickel slots because risking a lot makes me feel sick. (Do they even still have penny slots?) I'm also a nurse, so I think about and see complications more than I do success.

Right now, I'm trying to remember the reasons logical me decided this was a good idea. With the Barrett's I was just diagnosed with, it's an even better idea, but still... *eyes the high roller table nervously*

You will be fine I am 2 days post-op and I am really sore today but I know it will get better. Hang in there!
I’m on day 6 post op. Most days I have no interest in food and it’s a job to eat (drink). Yesterday I wanted everything I saw. I actually licked a Dorito! ??

Anyone post op have all your incisions feeling ok except the one where your stomach was removed from? Ugh. That one hurts so much! I know it can’t last forever though.

I know what you mean. I had my thyroid removed due to cancer in 2005 and for some reason I am more nervous this time that then. Maybe I am older and not necessarily wiser but just a bit more cowardly. It is the right move for me. So I am going through with it but I wish I could shake the nerves. Maybe part of it is this darn pre-surgery diet.
