Shoulder and Gas Pain...Help!

Recommended Posts

Ok...I am one who does not want to complain about pain. I am having a hard time figuring something out. The top portion of stomach just below the breasts really hurts and its almost like a full feeling. The full feeling really does not interfere with my ability to eat because I can without problems but I am not sure what it is. My first reaction is that it is still gas pains. Also, my shoulder still has pain on the left side. The pain doesn't really show up until I have moved around alot more than usual but really hurt yesterday enough to take my pain killers; as Tylenol would not cut it. Has anyone else out there had this issue 6 days post op. I keep reading that alot of you are doing much better with gas at this point and I am just a little concerned that I am still not comfortable. Any advice from you experience Bandsters would be awesome.

I had gas pains there for almost 2 weeks after surgery. Just keep burping and walking around. There is probably still gas trapped. It will go away but it feels like it never will. Hang in there.

holly - I had that severely for 2 weeks post op, lie down flat should help the pain.................. also walk gently up to 10-15 minutes, and have de-gas chewable tablets. It is caused by the gas from the op, being trapped in your diaphragm, and the pain in your shoulder is referred pain, because the nerves for your shoulder are actually near your diaphragm........... hope this helps, cheers K

I was banded on 11/1 and that gas pain just went away yesterday. Gas-X was the only thing that helped. Sometimes it hurt so bad that I couldn't swallow Water. On day 7 I would up in the ER on an IV drip from dehydration. I couldn't get in any liquids because of the pain. They x-rayed my tummy to check the band and found a large gas bubble near it. At that point, I was so mad at myself for voluntarily doing this to myself. I'm much better now and am starting to appreciate the weight loss so far, 12 pounds in 12 days. Just hang in there. "This too shall pass".

walk, walk, walk, then walk some more. It hurt worse for me to lie on my back, so I had to sleep sitting up, with a heating pad. Eventually, I was able to lay on my side. That helped a lot. I would lay on my side with a pillow propped under my tummy, and I would gently rock back and forth. It worked wonders!! The less pain meds you can take, the better (even Tylenol). They actually CAUSE gas!!! I swore off of them after that first painful experience and luckily. . it was my only painful experience. By the next day, I was fine!! :) Hang in there. . it only gets better! :)

I had really bad gas pain 2 days after surgery. My girlfriend suggested hot tea, and it has done the trick. It worked for my headache too. I was used to drinking 20 oz. of Diet Dr. Pepper every day. So she suggested caffinated tea--and the headache and gas pain went away.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
