Hey guys I’m new here

Hey everyone I’m pretty new to the cite and have tons of questions. I’m 24 (kinda young I know) lol I’m coming up on my last appointment with the dietitian. I’m getting nervous. Anybody going through the process now or went through it recently? I’d love to hear from people close to my age. Any advice, stories, information I’m here for it all ?

@Lora67 that’s exactly what I’m looking to do. I don’t think it should too hard because everyone seems so helpful on here.

Hey girl... so yea one of my corncerns has been the clothes thing too. Also loose skin. I’ve heard a lot of people say that for younger people loose skin won’t be such a big issue but still can’t help

I’m right there with you. Just starting this journey. So many emotions all at once. Glad I found others to share with.

Welcome to both of you., PrettyGirlLJ and Lora67. You will find a lot of new friends here. We all have gone through or are going through the Weight Loss Process. Are you planning a bypass, sleeve,or lap band? Most of us are sleeve or bypassn but there are still, pisters with all the different, kinds. And there, are a,lit more varieties than you would think. I'm the US, UK and Canada these are the, more popular but overseas they do these and a few more styles. Feel free to ask any questions you may have, if,i don't have an answer someone else in the World wide Bariatric Pal community will. Stick, around, we grow on you!

Hey thanks for your kind words. I’m having the sleeve done. It should be around August or September and I live in the US.

I am in Central Ohio and will be having my surgery at OSU-Wexner Medical Center in Columbus Ohio. My surgeon? is Bradley Needleman MD, I ended up with the big gun- he is the chief of Bariatrics there.
hey! i’m 22 and just waiting to schedule my surgery! submitted to my insurance provider last tuesday and hoping for a date towards the end of july. i started this process in february, but in the last 2 months really put in work to show my program i’m serious. i’ve lost 15lbs since april, but 20 since my highest weight in march. i’m getting the sleeve surgery as well! my biggest worries for life after surgery are pretty common- loose skin, ill fitting clothes and spending money on clothes, dating... and one “taboo” one that my surgery team isn’t as worried about, but i’ve received some flak for asking about on here, which is smoking (weed). i pretty much smoke every day now and won’t have a problem ~quitting~ for surgery, but of course, after i’m worried about handling the munchies and stuff like that.

Hey girl... so yea one of my corncerns has been the clothes thing too. Also loose skin. I’ve heard a lot of people say that for younger people loose skin won’t be such a big issue but still can’t help but wonder. ? as far as the smoking thing goes I’d just look for healthy things to munch on.. like celery. I know it’s 0 calories so you would be burning calories when you chew them. ?It’s just gonna be remembering to eat that once you’re high instead what you’ll probably want. Ppl can be too judgmental sometimes ? forgetting we’re all on here trying to do pretty much the same thing no matter what our circumstances and backgrounds may be ?

yeah that’s what i’ve been trying to do now! i’ve been planning and packing snacks when i know i’m gonna hang with my friends and it’s made things much easier.

i’m also hoping that age will play into not having as much loose skin, but in a perfect world i’d want to lose 200lbs so i think i’m gonna have loose skin no matter what. it kind of sucks because there are so many tattoos that i want and haven’t gotten because i’m afraid if i get skin surgery they’ll be removed! lol!

And see for me I have a ton of tattoos already lol.! So I’m hoping my skin will tighten up so they look normal and not all stretched out hahaha. I’ll be at the gym for sure ???‍♀️. I think packing your snacks with you is a great start. I need to start doing that more st work because I tend to go to the corner store next to my job and buy chips, candy, ice cream (yes at work) lol. I have to do better

At the seminar I attended, someone asked about weed after surgery (I was like omg thank you) and my surgeon shrugged and said it would be recreationally legal soon (I’m in NY) and it’s different than cigarette smoke so it’s not as harmful and doesn’t run as big a risk for reflux or ulcers! He said he doesn’t encourage it, but that his patients who do smoke post-op have said they don’t even get the munchies anymore! I thought that was so fascinating and had to share haha
Hey there 27 and waiting 2 more weeks to schedule my surgery
hey! i just got my date, july 25th. actually my moms birthday and she was willing to share it with me! (very surprising) i’m pretty excited. i have a blended diet class july 17th and start my preop diet a week before surgery (but still can eat like eggs and chicken so i hope it won’t be too bad since i get to chew!) feeling excited now!!

@saygrace wow!!!! That’s so exciting!! That was fast. Glad your mom is willing to share the day with you lol ?. My last visit is the 19th so I’m hoping the beginning of August. And yes still being able to eat some food is really good. I hope I can do that too
