Hey RonKat,

I hope your surgery is as easy as mine. I'm a little sore, but not bad at all. My DH had his done 2 years ago, he also got along very well. His surgery was laparoscopic, but took a little longer because he had a lot of scar tissue from an old fashioned gall badder surgery years ago. I had a hernia repair, so have a little extra discomfort, but honestly, not horrible. I don't feel like running the sweeper. LOL But truly not bad at all. Wish you well!

Hi there--I'm also being banded, December 31st at NYU. Dr. Ren's performing my procedure; I'm on liquids right now. It's tough, but being overweight and unhappy is even harder! Much luck to everyone facing this new and exciting challenge. I hope we're all healthier in 2008 and for the rest of our lives.

Blessings!

Maribel

hope things go good ronkat. on another note. im on the liquid phase post band and im getting annoyed now with all the water i drink. i also drink crystal light cause i need a little flavor. and i feel like i want to eat now that it has been 9 days with no sort of texture in my diet. is thier any advice on what to do out thier. i have also had jello so im tolerating swallowing stuff ok. hellllllllllllppppppp.lol

Did anyone else have a lowgrade fever? I've had one since yesterday but my release form says not to call the doc unless it's 100 or above. ALSO, How are you all doing with drinking and eating? I also have meds that I've cut up into a bunch of pieces and I'm trying to take them when I drink my water. I feel stuffed....It's probably just swelling but it makes it hard to get everything in.

I felt stuffed for the first two days. Had to MAKE myself drink anything. by the end of the week though, most of the swelling went down. My first day back at work I was STARVING. I was having the tendency to eat more than I should. Today I started drinking water about 45 minutes before each meal, finishing off at least 15 minutes before eating. Has made me feel much fuller. I'm getting anxious to get my first fill so that I won't feel so hungry. I'm not that good at willpower!

Hey Frisky,

I was banded on the 18th and I also have a fever. I have been rotating liquid Tylenol and the pain medicine and it seems to have helped. I have to force my self to drink water or I will be in trouble. My scales show that I am 39% hydrated and I am usually 49% for what ever that is worth.

Hi. I was banded yesterday, Dec. 19th. All is good. Not much pain. Only hurts when I move around a lot. I am not hungry. I have been super thirsty though. I have been drinking clear liquids all day. So far it is a good experience. I might even go to work for a few hours tomorrow. :)

Hey Cajun,

I'm glad you are doing well. Going back to work sooo soon???? I guess your youth helps there.

I live in Kenner. My DH works at Shell (NORCO) Who did your surgery??

I'm going to Ochsner with Dr.W. Richardson. My date is 12/26/2007...the day after X-Mas!!!!!

Good Luck and keep posting to let us know how things are going.:clap2:

I was banded 2 weeks ago! I had my first follow up appointment today and got great news!!!! I have lost 18 lbs since I last weighed in 3 weeks ago at my pre-op appointment! And better than that... I FEEL GREAT! No pain at all!! My scars are healing well. I will go in for my first fill in 3 weeks. I can't weigh!!!!! That was a bad pun!!!

Good luck to the rest of you December Banders!!!

Chris

Kennergirl,

Thank you. I was only able to go to work for an hour today. Last night was a little rough. I had trouble getting my pain medicine down. I felt like I was going to throw up, but didn't.

My surgeon was Dr. Lavin. He and his staff are wonderful!!!!

Good luck with your surgery. You will do fine.

Amy

tomecia, your surgery was two days after mine. do you have any redness around your port? Mine is a little red but not a lot. Has me a little concerned.

Hey Guys and Gals, I havn't been to this thread in a while but I just wanted to give everyone an update. I was banded yesterday and I'm soooo sore. The gas is the worst part for me right now. My whole back hurts. Other than the discomfort, I think I'm doing ok. Anyone know how long this gas pain hangs around? My nurse told me not to take the gas x strips. Good luck to everyone.

man without the gas x I would have lost it I used gas x and the gas pain still stayed around for about 3 days. it was the worest thing about the whole thing to me.

My nurse looked at me like I was crazy when I asked about gasx. She said there was no way I would need anything for the gas, that it would go away on it's own.

I listened for about 6 hours....then I had hubby go to Walmart for the strips. I was eating them like candy the first couple of days. I never went over the recommended limit but I pushed it to the max.

After about 3 days I tapered off on the gasx. The shoulder pain lasted another 3 or so.

Congrats on your band and we hope to hear great things....

Steph
