Share ideas, What did you eat today ?

Hey Becacloud...I like the Hood milk too. Much lower in carbs than skim and not soooo thin looking. Is that why you go with Hood. I think it used to be called Carb Countdown / now Calorie Countdown. I guess since the Atkins craze is gone they tried to reclass it.
  3. GOOOOOOOOOAAAALLL!!!!! 18 MONTHS AND 14 DAYS LATER I FINALLY REACHED MY initial GOAL... 85 lbs lost Started at 221 and today the scale showed 136:thumbup: I'M NO LONGER MORBIDLY OBESE, OBESE OR EVEN OVERWEIGHT. I HAVE A "NORMAL" BMI AND I'M AN "AVERAGE" WEIGHT FOR MY AGE AND HEIGHT. (which is old and short) I want to lose another 10 lbs. but I'm in no rush. It's the journey, not the destination. I run/jog/walk 6 miles, 6 days a week. I'm only taking 1 Rx a day (compared to 8) before the band. Life is good:lol: I can't imagine where I'd be without this gift. Love and Luck to all the Merry Losers.

    Oschner New Orleans??

me me me I was banded by Dr. Richardson on 12 26 2007. I've lost 72 lbs to date. I don't see Dr. Richardson any more. I see Amber Plaisance (sp?) the phy assistant. I really don't go in much anymore. They think I'm done as I have lost 72% of my excess weight and therefore a SUCCESS. She is great. She does my fills. How are you doing?
  6. I know excersise is the key to losing more weight. I stayed the same for 4 months before I finally gave in and started moving. My doctor and nut have pretty much chaulked me up to "finished" in my weight loss journey...because I'm at 72% of my excess weight lost. But I'm not done yet. I know I can be better and I really want to be classified at a NORMAL weight and NORMAL bmi. That is 13lbs away. Walking/Jogging will get me there, hopefully before the end of 2009. The best part is I can eat more and even indulge in "goodies" now and again and the scale doesn't beat me down. I'm going to Las Vegas May 8th to see my older son graduate (finally) from UNLV. He and his wife haven't seen me since their wedding last May. I'm 23 lbs lighter and so much leaner due to running...I can't wait to see there faces when I get off the plane. bye now!
  7. Hi all, Just checking in. I survived my first 10K race. I finished in 1 hour 37 mins. Not too shabby for an old broad:tt2: i rested Sunday but I was at it again this am and did 5 miles. I don't know who I am!!! My new addiction, me thinks.
  8. Happy Easter all you Merry Losers, I'm happy to say I'm down 72lbs (still) It's slow going, but still going. I walking/jogging in the Crescent City Classic here in New Orleans tomorrow am. It's my first 10k and I'm just amazed I'm doing it. I walk/jog about 20 miles per week :lol:and I'm in better shape now than...well ever. My body wants to MOVE. It is awsome. I'd still like to lose maybe 15 more lbs but I'm in no rush. I'm wearing size 10 now that is down from a tight 18 and some 20's !!!! so life is good. I check in here every day...not much going on anymore. I still like seeing a new post from time to time and continue to wish all the Merry Losers good luck on the journey.

    Name your Lap-Band!!

I don't have a name for my band...I just say its the little miracle living inside of me. I'm down 71lbs since 12/26/2007. Hoping to get rid of 20 more this year. What made me respond to your post was your log in name. I'm a Spud mama too. My little dog (the love of my life) is named Spud. Good Luck with your Journey!!!

    Othopedic Surgery after being banded?

I also have a torn rotator cuff and in an effort to avoid surgery...I got a cortisone (sp?) shot. Well.....after a week my band got sooo tight I needed a complete unfill. (for a couple of weeks) Lesson learned. Keep in touch and let us know how it goes. I have a feeling I'll need surgery soon, as I've had my limit of shots:scared2:
  11. It's my 1 year anniversary also. I was hoping to be able to say 70lbs gone today ...but alas, still only 68lbs lost. :tongue2: (I've been in the same category for far too long.) Thanksgiving, vacation and X-mas did me in. Hopefully this new year will bring a new motivation period to help get this last 20lbs off. I know exercise is the key. The problem is that I am comfortable at this size and I have enough clothes, and people keep telling me I look good... blah blah blah... We have a wedding tomorrow night and a New Year's Eve party...after that I'll get back to serious business of losing weight. I've said it before. This band is GREAT. It holds my place until I'm ready to start losing again. It's OK to take a break now and again. Normal weight people splurge. The difference is they don't keep splurging. We can do this. We must do this. I'll post pics from the wedding next week. Happy New Year all.

    Snowing in new orleans

It's a Winter Wonderland!!! Out of the few people that showed up for work...nobody has a camera we can connect to a computer to send pics. It's so thick that they are closing all bridges and overpasses. The city doesn't own equipment to clear the streets of ice and snow. (pumps to pump out water from failed levees... yes) Looks like we will have the rest of the day off. Just waiting for the OK to go home. Thanks for the replys.

    Snowing in new orleans

I'm 52 years old and this is only the 5th time its snowed here in my lifetime. The entire city is freaking out. You have to understand how totally awsome this is for us southerners. We don't do SNOW. It's magical.

11 Months! Wahoo! Give us #'s

Not soo much stress...but TOM ...yes. I haven't had a period since my hystr. 10 yrs ago...but I still have my ovaries and ovulate. I can always tell at the end of each month a tightening in my band. After 3 unfills I finally figured it out. My doctor/staff acts like they have never heard of this before??? WTF??? Don't they read LBT???ahahha I'm going back on the 15th of Dec for a slight fill. (And in 2 weeks I'll be too tight...) I've been at a standstill for far too long. I'm ready to lose this last 20 lbs. I'm happy to know I can maintain my weight with very little effort (dieting) on my part. Even with a loose band, it's still there to controls my hunger and quanity. That's comforting. I can live like this for sure. The light at the end of the tunnel is bright. Can't wait for End Of Year Pictures of you all!! My EOY is not until the 26th.

11 Months! Wahoo! Give us #'s

I voted 2 days early... I only lost 1 lb this month. Had an unfill due to tightness and then didn't get it all put back in. can pretty much eat anything and everything. Not a good thing with the holidays approaching. I'll have to rely on good old will power. Next fill is 12/15/08 DH and I are going to San Diego for Thanksgiving. We have 2 grown sons and a daughter in law that live in Las Vegas. They will all meet us to celebrate older DS's 30th birthday on the 28th. Should be fun, fun, fun. I sure do miss those kids. We spent last Thanksgiving in Las Vegas for his engagement party. I'm excited to see the before and after pictures. What a difference a year (and a band) make. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving everyone.
  21. Hey, I was also banded by Dr. Richardson (the day after XMas '07) I've lost 66lbs to date. I don't see Dr. Richardson anymore. I see the PA. (Amber) She is a doll ... and Jesse the NUT. I hear you about the carbs. I try to stay away from pasta, rice, and breads. I have pretty good restriction now and really can't get enough protien if I eat carbs. I don't miss them tooo much. Nothing tastes as good as being thin feels.ahahahah This is a great place to come and see how others handle problems you may be having. It's been a life saver for me. Talk to you soon.

    Hello from Louisiana!!!

Check out the Louisiana boards. Several people from northern LA. Just read, read, read. So much infor on here and everyone is so supportive and helpful... You got a question??? someone here will be able to help you. Also, make sure you join in the October 2008 group. I think they call themselves the Smashing Pumpkins. That way you will be in touch with people going thru the same issues at the same time as you are. Bye now!

    9 Month Stats

Nine months today...where does the time go. I'm down 63lbs. Had a little drama yesterday. For the second time in a month I needed a slight unfill. I don't know whats happening, but 2 weeks after a small, small fill ( .2cc's ) I get sooo tight that even water gets stuck. Nighttime was the worst with heartburn and reflux. They wanted to see exactly what was going on so I did a swallow study. You know, thick, chalky stuff and watched it get stuck in the band. They couldn't even finish the test because after 2 sips I was FULL up to the top. The band was perfectly placed. Whewwww!! The PA took out .4 of the 1.4 I had in and I felt immediate relief. No more gurgling and burping. This happened last month around the same time. Just before we evacuated for hurricane Gustav. All the fill was removed then and since I couldn't get back in town for my appt....I waited 2 weeks and gained 6 lbs. Yikes! Eating meals at gas stations and fast food joints along the evacuation route is not band friendly eating. Lucky for me that 6lbs came off quick and took 3 of its friends with it. I can't wait for our 1 year Bandversary. I'm looking forward to seeing pictures of all the Merry Losers before and after.

    Time released fill

I just posted the same problem on my Merry Losers thread. I got a very small fill 4 weeks ago. .2 cc's and was at my "sweet spot" up until this weekend. Then WHAMMMM...too tight. I had to sleep in the recliner last night. Felt like I was drowning. Reflux and heartburn like I've never felt before. My PA took out all the fill to let me heal for a week or so. Not sure why this happened.
