Today I made Bone Broth with 3 marrow bones, 1/2 an onion, some carrots, celery, parsley, bay leaves & garlic in my crock pot.

Saved the carrots & pureed them with some of the broth for when I can have them the week after my surgery.

Placed the broth 4-8oz into breast milk collection bags (they are sturdier then regular zip-lock bags) & put everything into the freezer. I also froze some in an ice cube tray to use later when I make more puréed food.

I bough bone broth before when I had to do a liquid diet before a colonoscopy last year. It was so gross! I knew I could make it better & I did!

Toodles,

Rue

Good on you making your own. Always healthier and tastier with the real stuff. I'm really sensitive to msg (in all its many hidden forms) so I make my own chicken stock to use in Soups (and other dinners like casseroles) that are safe for me to eat without triggering headaches.

Be aware that after veggies are cooked for hours to produce stock/broth pretty much all of their flavour is drawn out into the liquid, leaving the remaining solids quite bland tasting (I just throw my spent veggies away with the bones into the green waste recycling bins here). So don't be disappointed if your blended carrots don't have a lot of taste.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
