The struggles are real!

Just venting! So I'm on day 3 of 14 pre op liquid diet and I'm sooooooo hungry I could lick someone's feet If it tasted like meatloaf haha the headaches are terrible, I'm so tired but can't sleep and have the strangest dreams when i do. I haven't cheated though but i can say it's hard as hell no to, I'm staying focused on goal..surgery April 10th!! I do my protien shakes throughout the day so I'm meeting my goal. I also picked up some protien2o and protien powder to add to my broth when I'm sick of the shakes. I save my one protien bar for the end of the day which i look forward to lol. While everyone around me is enjoying their boiled dinner on Sunday I'll be trying to figure out how to shape my jello into ham hahaha....and I'm down 5lbs so there's that! So here's to everyone in the pre op diet phase. We've got this! ...i think.

If you can have protein bars (which have more carbs than protein anyway) you can have ham. The point of the pre-op diet is to be high protein and low carb to put yourself into Ketosis and shrink the size of your liver. The only reason most doctors want it to be a liquid diet is that protein shakes only is easier to explain.

star, it sounds like you're doing great! And I love your attitude! So excited to continue to hear about your journey. You totally have this pre-op diet in a headlock! Congrats also on the weight loss!! Such a great feeling!! :D

I just had surgery on Monday. Before that I had a 4 week optifast diet. We had to have 5 protein supplements per day and could have one small very specific meal. It was extremely hard to do the first week. That is when the body is detoxing and withdrawing from the carbs, sugars, caffeine, etc. It will cause a severe headache. After that first week, it gets much, much easier. Stick to it and you will see. You want your liver to be as small as possible for surgery and it will be well worth it!
