Pre Op Diet

Hey guys,

What kind of diet did you follow to loose weight prior to surgery? I have 17 pounds to go. I was thinking something like a protein shake for breakfast, a lean cuisine for lunch, and a small piece or meat with a small salad for dinner. I like consistency so I wont get bored with the same things. Does this sound good or should I double up on the shakes. I need to have food as convenient as possible where I have two little kids and I work most of the day away.

So basically what I have had success with is... Protein shake for breakfast (love the premier protein shakes) Avoid pasta, bread, rice, potatoes, corn... but if I must indulge, try for whole grain it

  • My doc put me on diet pills , he did not tell me I had to lose a certain amount , or tell me a diet plan or anything

  • They told me I had to loose ten percent of my body fat! They didn't really give me a good plan dieting prior to the 2 week liquid diet before the appointment.

My surgeon's group has a lot of free info on their website for bariatric patients including sample diets, education, etc. I was annoyed at first having to go to classes before I was allowed to schedule my surgery but it actually has been really great preparation for the next steps.

My breakfast is a Special K Egg White Omelet sandwich with a piece of Morningstar Farms sausage added to it. It keeps me full without feeling like I'm missing out. My two cents...

My program is 70-100 grams of protein and 64oz of water or things like Crystal light and less than 50 grams of net carbs. The thing I am struggling with is cutting out diet soda. I'm also struggling with snacking
