Major Support Needed

Recommended Posts

hi, everyone!!

I was banded on 8/15 and I currently have 2.25ccs in a 4cc band and sometimes feel restriction, mainly in the morning. I feel like I eat barely anything compared to what i use to eat the problem is i have only lost 25 lbs and the scale has NOT moved in over 3 wks. I know i should be happy with 25 lbs gone not gained but see my best friend got the bi-pass 3 months before me and is down almost 100 lbs. Everytime people see us together the praise is always on her nobody even notices anything on me. I hate that it feels like competition because she always wants to know how much i'm down (lbs) and says "see u should of got the bi-pass" but i didin't want to go that route because it seems unhealthy. Am I not a jealous person, I am truly happy that she feels better about herself, I just want to feel like I'm acomplishing something too!

Don't beat yourself up. You did the right thing. AND the healthy thing. I go to support group meetings and the by-pass people all have problems. One is getting the shakes really bad from dipping blood sugar levels. He can't even have sex anymore. The exertion nearly puts him in a coma. their hair is falling out, they have to get B-12 shots regularly, they will NEVER be able to eat certain foods again, and the weight loss was so rapid, their skin is sagging and most need additional surgery to get rid of it. I wasn't impressed. Maybe it's time for another fill or time to re-examine your caloric intake. Make a couple of changes in your diet. What are you doing for exercise? you may need to boost your metabolism with a change in regimine. WHATEVER YOU DO.... DON'T GIVE UP. and please don't compare to your friend. That's comparing apples and oranges. Talk to your doctor. Personally, I think 25 pounds in two months is FABULOUS. Not to mention healthier. Be patient.

Congrats on losing 25 lbs :clap2:

Now lets move on to why the scales haven't moved in 3 weeks.

#1 - what are you eating??? a suggestion here - keep a food diary count your calories and Protein grams - log every item that goes in your mouth. You may be surprised at what you are really eating every day..

#2 - are you exercising???

My success has been that I log all my food - eat low fat - sugar free - and do include some rice potatoes etc. I watch my caloires - I keep them around 1000 -1200 daily and get all my 60 grms of pt in.

I exercise 5 days a week - walk 2 miles 3 day - 3 miles 1 day and 4 miles on Saturday - (treadmill @ gym 16.30 minute miles - this up from a 25 minute on day one - goal is 15 minute mile)

You can do this :clap2:- you have succeeded in losing the 1st 25 you know what you need to do - you just gotta put it to work....

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
