    Let's be honest....please!

Hi, I have just recently come back to this site and came across your posting. I have had my band since August 08 and I would never change a thing! I started this journey ay 309 lbs, and I am now 180lbs. When I went into this surgery I knew it was a lifetime commitment, and have stuck through its ups and downs. I still attend monthly support meetings and check in with my doctors. This surgery is a tool to be used along with changing your eating habits. Now don't get me wrong, I am far from perfect and still eat things that I shouldn't on occasion but you will never get the results from ANY surgery you have unless you make a change within yourself. The surgeon makes the stomach smaller but he doesn't shut the emotions off that are causing you to overeat or eat emotionally. You need to find it in you to make a change, start slow and take baby steps but in time it will all come together. I wish you the best of luck!
  2. Hey Allison just thought I'd drop you a note, I am also from Ma. I live in Fitchburg, my surgery was done at St.Vincent's hospital in Worcester. Keep up the good work, I have been banded a year as of 8/15 and I'm down 101 lbs! LOVE IT!!!

    band buddy

Hello, my name is Karen. I live in Massachusetts, I was going through a few postings and I read yours it caught my eye because I also was banded on Aug 15th but in 2007 so I just had my I year bandiversary!! So far I've lost 100lbs. I started a lot heavier than you but Let me say its the best thing I ever did for myself. I also have 2 kids, 12 and 9. I'm 32 yrs old and I had sleep apnea, high blood pressure, and borderline diabetic. All of those are gone now!!! first few months might be tough as you get used to how to eat again but it does get better. Any time you might have a question just give me a holla

    Deathly afraid of death!

I had my band done in august, and I too was so afraid of not waking up and also I feared not knowing how much pain I would be in. My doctor gave me something to relax me before surgery as he does this with everybody and it was not even as bad as I thought it would be. Two days later I was feeling like I didn't even have anything done except for all my staples to prove it. I look back now and wonder how I was so afraid but if I had to do it again the worry would still be there, its just natural and once you see the results of what you choose to do, you will be so thankful you did it. I'm down 69 lbs since august 07:whoo:

    Major Support Needed

hi, everyone!! I was banded on 8/15 and I currently have 2.25ccs in a 4cc band and sometimes feel restriction, mainly in the morning. I feel like I eat barely anything compared to what i use to eat the problem is i have only lost 25 lbs and the scale has NOT moved in over 3 wks. I know i should be happy with 25 lbs gone not gained but see my best friend got the bi-pass 3 months before me and is down almost 100 lbs. Everytime people see us together the praise is always on her nobody even notices anything on me. I hate that it feels like competition because she always wants to know how much i'm down (lbs) and says "see u should of got the bi-pass" but i didin't want to go that route because it seems unhealthy. Am I not a jealous person, I am truly happy that she feels better about herself, I just want to feel like I'm acomplishing something too!

    plateau

Ok, so I was banded on 8/15/07 and lost 23 lbs so far and stopped! Has this happened to anyone else so soon. I just had my first fill of 1.5 cc's and feel a little more restriction. I feel like I barely eat, especially compared to what I used to eat like. I guess I just want to wake up skinny, (JK) I know its a slow process but does anyone have some encouragement
  7. it's been about 6 wks since surgery, i'm on regular foods now, but lately everytime i eat anything i get really bad pain on left side, a little below my port. I thought it was maybe i ate too much but it happens even with 2-3 bites. I haven't even been adjusted yet.
