I had my psych evaluation consult this morning. He told me that he doesn’t make the decision if I’m capable of having the surgery or not. Has anyone else heard this? From my understanding of what he said, he just gathers the information for the surgeon to decide if I’m ok to have surgery! I’m confused

My psych needed to sign off on me, she sent something to my surgeon that said I don’t have an eating disorder, and the worst thing I am addicted to is carbs. She didn’t make final decision on me having surgery but if I did have (past or present) an eating disorder or an addiction to drugs/alcohol she would not recommend me for surgery.

Have a great day!

Mine was like that too, he interrogated me about what I ate like as a child (like I remember) and then interrogated me about what I eat like now and that was it... I'm like welp that was a stupid $100 copay!!

Yeah it’s weird! I’ve only done my consult, still waiting for the actual evaluation [emoji848]

I see a psychiatrist weekly, he could not do the evaluation according to the staff where I will be having my surgery.
I did the five hour evaluation and consult, I was told I was good to go. As I'm leaving I was told by the way your doctor will need a letter from your psychiatrist stating you are mentally stable..... If that was all they needed why did I waste my time?

My case manager from the surgeons office told me that the Doctor makes the decision. The surgeon will have you do counseling if there’s any issues with the evaluation. The Psychiatrist takes the notes and sends them to the surgeon.
I have my own psychiatrist that manages my meds and I was told to get clearance from him too! I think, it’s a hoop to jump through for insurance. I guess they can also tell if you have eating disorders, as well...

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
