Constant nausea after gastric sleeve

Recommended Posts

I'm experiencing constant nausea. I can barely eat or drink anything. My surgery was August 16, everything was fine until the week of phase 2 diet. The first of September, I wound up in emergency because of the intense nausea. They performed a CAT scan and found everything okay. Now, a month later, I am still extremely nauseous and I have had an upper GI, nothing wrong. My doctor says I am experiencing "intolerance" to everything, but doesn't give me any remedies, only "it'll get better". In the meantime, I am sick and stuck in bed because I can't do much. Any ideas or suggestions?

I have zofran that you put on your tongue. Courtesy of a heme/onc, but any one can prescribe.

I have zofran. It doesn't really work. I take it about a half hour before I try to drink or eat. I still wind up feeling nauseous. Even during the infusions, I get it through the IV. Still don't work.

The 8 mg on the tongue pill? I don't wait, I take it immediately. I also have shots at times before the IV's. Phenergan, but it makes me sleepy.

Phenergan was a huge help, but i think that is a shot.

I had the same thing. A nurse started me on a zofran tablet that dissolved under the tongue, phenergan, and compazine schedule. I also had a scopolamine patch. It took a good month to be able to wean off the schedule to the point where just zofran covered it. But at least I could start working on keeping fluids down and starting to advance my diet. Good luck!

Yes. I have taken the zofran. And the phenergan immediately makes me vomit

I have gotten better. Apparently, I was going through an intolerance to food and liquid. After a month, I was dehydrated and malnurished. I spent a week in the hospital getting TPN IV and fluids. I'm much better now. Thank you all for your help.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
