No bowel movement

I had surgery on Thursday and I have not gone to the bathroom since last Wednesday. It will be a week tomorrow. Is this normal or should I be concerned. I don't feel bloated or even have the feeling that I have to go. I'm getting concerned should I take a stool softener. Is this normal? Should I take something or just let it happen when it happens. Sorry to much info[emoji45]

I wouldn't take any harsh laxatives, make sure you're drinking your gallon of water or as much water as you can. Get your self some Metamucil or some type of stool softener. Better yet consult your doctor, check your post surgery notes.

My doctor as well advised me to take milk of magnesia. I was in such distress I couldn't even sit down! He said to take a full capful twice a day, once in the morning and once in the evening until I have the runs, then taper down to where it's just right for me and I was going at least once per day.

I went from a painful compacted situation to having gentle bowel movements every day! I've had constipation problems all my life and wish I would have known to take MOM before this! It's like a miracle for me.

I have wondered about Linzess ince seeing tv ads. Would like more information on how it works.

Hope you feel better soon hang in there kid it'll get better!
