Expect this to be a transition that in the beginning is bearable but not comfortable. Go in with that mindset and understand all the side effects from what you have read here. That helped me a lot. I'm 3 days out and still trying to get the gas out,, and fluids down. It gets better everyday and most everyone goes through some emotional rollercoaster because it is hard to go from eating to drinking ice chips and slowly progressing to real food. Follow Dr.'s instructions, take your pain meds, and relax. Think about it as the long haul, ending results.
