Hi all! After much soul searching, struggling, and research, I have finally made the decision to have lapband surgery. I am going to the informational seminar on Monday. I will be paying out of pocket. Even though I weigh 275, my insurance won't cover it without a year of nutrition counseling and then, MAYBE, they'll approve it. I have no medical conditions that would help me get around the year of counseling. Not that I'm complaining . The questions I have:

1. What is the average cost? I'll be taking out a loan, but just wondering.

2. How long does the process take before I would have surgery? I'm hoping it goes quickly so I can have it done during winter break. Is 2.5 months from now realistic?

Thanks for any and all answers. Finding this forum is really getting me psyched about my decision!

I went to my seminar in May and had my surgery in July.

I had to get a loan for $15,000. And the whole process took less than 2 months.
