Why do I do it to myself?

This is a spin-off of the accidentally deleted thread "Imposters piss me off." ^_^

Every so often, I go over to OH, even though I hate it, just to see if anything useful has been posted. Afterwards, I mentally slap myself. Every. Single. Time. It's a damn good thing that I had my account there deleted. If I hadn't, I probably would have been banned by now. Either I read a post by SandyR (I try to avoid them, but some sneak through when I'm not expecting it) that makes me want to slap her and shake the people that actually listen to her or I run across a thread containing an online WWIII over some stupid thing. (Today it was one where someone had the audacity [gasp!] to say that they didn't feel a lot of sympathy for people who buy something they really can't afford, default on their loans, and subsequently have their possessions repo'd - apparently that didn't go over well.) :speechles

Every time I go over there, I wonder why I did. But I guess I continue to think that there might be some redeeming feature to the forum (every so often, a decent bit of advice gets posted). :phanvan

One thing I was thinking about the Sandy thing...

Is it not the responsibility of the people that know what she's doing to say something? I mean, she's conning people and misrepresenting herself. Shouldn't those people that know what she's doing, know it's wrong and even illegal, warn other people? I get the feeling sometimes that we're supposed to just shut up and let her be, let her get away with it. At least, that's the feeling that I get from some of these posts. Yet, isn't that doing a misservice to the people that she's going after, the people she's conning? At what point does it go from letting someone's past go unmentioned to not saying anything because it would reflect badly on us?

IMO, it's one thing to not talk about someone's past secrets because they've become an upstanding member of society. It's a far, far different thing when that person is breaking the law, using her past to do it.

Hey, the best thing about LBT is that there are no grudges held. We can bitch and fight to our hearts' content in Rant and Raves and still be the best support on the rest of the board.

I agree, it's great. And nobody runs to the mods saying they were "attacked".

So Wedall, do you just go to your subscribed posts, do you go to new posts, or how exactly do you find where you want to read LBT?

A little of both if I have the time. This next month is going to be exceptionally busy for me.

She has never been called out and I view the posts everyday. I was really surprised to see two of the OH folks on here posting. I'm not even 6 months out, but I'll try to answer newbie questions if I can. When she originally emailed me this info, I was going to post it for the whole board to see. I decided that she was a very sad person and it wasn't my business to post because it pertained to another member. Now, if that member gave their permission, I would post it in a NY minute.

Do it. May as well show the entire world what a liar she is.

I've been reading this (my mini-soap opera) and I'm sorry if I'm intruding on something that's personal. I'm guilty of going OH to view the profiles of people mentioned, but have no personal experience w/Sandy.

Your post about responsibility reminded me of the Declaration of Independence. This weekend my daughter and I were watching that, and in one scene Nicholas Cage reads a section and explains that it means:

If there is something wrong, those who have the ability to take action have the responsibility to take action.

So, long story short, I believe that this quote is true. That if you know something is illegal, and that someone may hurt someone else then you should expose that person to the proper authorities and do what's necessary to protect people without that knowledge. (People like me, who may have stumbled onto that site rather than this one and followed ill-given advice. I'd be pissed if that had happened.)

IMHO

Sandy has a looooong reputation and it's not good. She has a small group of followers but until LBT we couldn't expose her. Her cheerleaders would have thrown a fit over truth being exposed.

However, over here there is little they can do. There is no having threads deleted or harassing the person until they finally gave up and left as happens routinely on OH. They are stuck with truth whether they like it or not.

I am surprised that Sandy hasn't figured out a way using another username or something to post here to defend herself. Surely someone has told her we have a little "mini soap opera" Sandy thread going on here.

Oh, I have no doubt she's been reading. I'd bet money on it.

I agree, I'm surprised she hasn't come up with the usual fake IDs to post and defend her.
