I need help

I had my gastric sleeve in March 2013. I initially lost 110 lbs. Then my mom passed away in 2014 & I have been struggling since. I gained 30 lbs & I have been fighting to not go over 200 lbs. I can't seem to stick to my eating plan for more than a couple of weeks. I have done the 5 Day Pouch Test several times & you would think that would motivate me...but it hasn't. I can't afford to go to therapy & I literally have no one to talk to about it. I was wondering if someone who has their weight under control & is doing well would be willing to email with me off this site to give me some support, encouragement, advice & guidance? I binge eat & then feel bad which causes me to eat even more....I can't do this alone....

For free therapy or support, you can check your local hospitals & clinics for Food Addicts Anonymous or Over eaters anonymous. Sorry for your loss. I'm an emotional eater too.

Height 5'0"
Weight for WLS consultation: 216 lbs.
Surgery date: 2/13/17
Goal: - 71 lbs for healthy BMI (about 145 lbs).
My profile picture is not me. It's my "FitSpiration" body.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! I am no stranger to emotional eating and binging. How do you manage to binge when the pouch doesn't let you eat very much at one time?

I'm sorry to hear about ur loss. I think ur mom was proud of ur success, and wanted the best for you, as hard as it sounds take one day at a time, even though we are strangers we are here for u, to be ur extended support system. I'm here if u need a friend, haven't had my surgery it's April 4th . I started this weight loss program in June 2016, it's been hard, long struggle , my house burnt down in August and we lost everything no insurance, I lived on peanut butter n jelly for months but this is about you not me, please if u need support, I'm offering.

I second this great idea. Overeaters Anonymous is great. I went several years ago. It's a 12 step program like AA. You will have a mentor and you will plan your meals, everyday. You will talk to your mentor about your meal plan. There are weekly meetings for support and everyone there, is in the same boat.

I'm very sorry for your loss. There are also support groups at local churches that can help you deal with the loss of a loved one. I would reach out to them as well.

Take care of yourself! You can do this!

Eat dense Protein. I'm not sure what your living/work situation is like but clear everything out you can binge on and only stock your house with dense protein. Steak, grilled chicken, pork chops. Things that really utilize your restriction. Even if you decide to binge or graze on these you can't do that much damage. Only eat dense protein for at least a week, 2 if you can make it that long. Eat salad greens with Walden farms dressing if you need a snack.

Like someone else said, over eaters anonymous is free.

The main thing is to let your sleeve help you. It can only help you if you are eating dense protein.

Thank you for the suggestions of OA.....I tried that years ago & didn't like the religious overtones of it. I may try it again. Carolyn, how can I send my email address to you? I am so appreciative of you offering to email with me. I so desperately need someone to talk to.

MoLiver....you can still stretch out your pouch, which I am sure I have done. Also, eating nothing but carbs frequently throughout the day seems thto be what I do the most. I knew going into this that it wasn't a fix all but I didn't realize deeply rooted my eating issues are.

Have you tried the what was said above about eating dense protein? It makes sense to me. You are having a tough time but you can do this! I know you can. If you didn't care you wouldn't be here asking for help.
