You do the options class before anything! You have to finish the class and try to lose the weight and have the dr approve you to see the surgeon. After everything is cleared the surgeons office calls you to make an appointment. At least this is what I went through.

I went to my Primary doc. He gave me a referral to bariatrics. I then got a call from them to come to an orientation class. After that I had appointment with Nutritionist, psychologist and the surgeon. I had to track my food for a week. Stay at 1200 calories and share this with Nutritionist. I saw the psychologist and she required that I attend 6 Mindful Eating classes. In Modesto they are offered once every week. The surgeon required that I lose 10#''s. Once I finished all of that I called the bariatrics department and got a date for a physical and blood work. I was only required to get an EKG. I now see the surgeon on the 31st to finalize what type of surgery I'm having (sleeve). I have my surgery on 2/9
