Finding a doc.

I've been lurking for a while and have loved reading your experiences. This is my first post.

There is a surgeon in my hometown and is on my insurance. I know of 3 patients who had good experiences. However, some of his online reviews weren't great.

I've already consulted one bariatric doc with high ratings but it wasn't a good fit.

Looking for advice.

All I can say is that you have to take the reviews with a grain of salt. People will give bad reviews for things that are beyond the person being reviewed's control. Such as, the person doesn't think they lost weight fast enough, or the surgeon couldn't do the surgery due to the patient's health or physical issues. Go with who your friend's recommend. That is what I did and I am completely satisfied.

I would also make sure the program is a good fit for you and not just the surgeon. Do they have support groups, dieticians that you can meet with regularly, exercise groups for post surgery, etc.
