Question... Just had 2 oikos yogurts

Recommended Posts

I was on liquids only for 3 weeks, but certainly couldn't eat that much yogurt even at 6 months out. Were you given instructions on certain amounts to eat? Like no more than 4oz per meal, etc? The nerves to your stomach were cut, so you can't go by what you perceive as "full" or not at this stage. It will be at least 2-3 months before your sleeve is healed and maybe even longer before you regain normal sensation. Measuring what you eat and sticking to that amount is a very important part of the learning curve for postoperative lifestyle changes required for long term success. Eating until we are full is what got us obese in the first place. It's one of the many bad habits I worked hard to get rid of.

You're only one week out which means the nerves are still healing. Which means the signals won't be accurate. Keep it under 6oz volume for around the next 2-3 weeks.

I was advised to eat 2 oz over the course of 20 minutes and then stop, even if not feeling full. Your signals (coming from the nerves) telling you that you are satiated are not working yet. Don't just keep eating, that's really bad for you.

I guess my question would be how long did it take you to eat two of them? Yogurt is like liquid and it will go through you more quickly. It was on my Full liquid diet list so it was considered a liquid. I can drink and eat "liquids" in much higher volumes than dense Proteins.

I'd recommend only eating the serving size your doctor sets (4oz, 2oz, etc). Because the thing is...you never know when you are going to eat too much right now and make yourself very sick.

Can doesn't mean should. lol! Lots of people tend to think their stomach isn't as small as they were told because at first they can consume what feels like large amounts of the liquid. But as soon as dense food goes in you will feel the difference right away. :)

What portion size were you told to eat? And in what time frame? If you weren't given any guidelines then I highly suggest you contact your nutritionist again and ask for some.

6 weeks out and I can't finish one of the Oikos yogurt, let alone two. I usually manage about 3/4 of a yogurt over the span of 20 minutes.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
