No leak test - self pay

So I was researching today and saw that the surgeon I was thinking of using doesn't do a leak test as he doesn't see it necessary. Did anyone's else's surgeon not do it ? I found another one in the area that does but he's 5000 more !

      My doctor also doesn't do a leak test. He's the medical director at a bariatric center for excellence. I'm not sure why, I didn't think to ask at the time but now I'm curious. Sent from my iPhone

      Where was this at? That sounds pretty outrageous! Even when I was looking at Mexico all of the stories I read included a leak test of some sort. I would 100% avoid the surgeon that does not do one.

      My doctor does not do the leak test either. He said they are not the most effective way to determine if there is a leak. He also said there are clear symptoms that they monitor for after surgery to

    My surgeon does a leak test during surgery before he closes. No separate leak test the next day. Maybe that's what this surgeon does?

    My surgeon didn't do a post op leak test either, and he's won awards worldwide for bariatric surgery and is the head of a center of excellence. I may be mistaken, but I believe some surgeons check for leaks in surgery

    @@high functioning. No he does 3 a day, he can probably do more but he does other surgeries other than BS and he was one of the first doctors in the US to start doing the sleeve. Alot of surgeons do a leak test before the sew you up, you don't need an additional leak test post op, now if a surgeon does do one there is no harm in that either. With that being said, nothing in life is guaranteed, you can have all those leaks done and still get a leak. We all pray to have a safe and successful surgery.
