I have a different BCBS. 1 year wait.

I live in VA and have care first bcbs it is based in MD but I am pretty sure carefirst is same in DMV. Regardless I can share I had a 6 month period of classes. It did have some nice flexibility. If you could demonstrate another weight loss program within the last 6 you could get some "credit" for those classes or program to help you speed up time to surgery. I don't know what BMi requirement was I think minimum of 40. For me, after wait it was pretty simple. Coinsurance or copays could differ between plans mine was $300

I have the same insurance and because I live in Colorado they did not require the classes. I had my first consult in March and had to do a psych evaluation $100 which I think I can get reimbursed, a Nutrition eval- $50 and a 1 day class which was feee. They approved the same day the dr submitted! I had a zero copay for surgery which my hospital rep said she has. Ever seen. I love that insurance!!!
Good luck !

I have BCBS of IL and I live in MS and I have no wait. The only requirement was that I use a blue distinction center. And the closes one to me is 2 hours away in Monroe, LA. There is not one located in my state. My VSG will be completely covered through BCBS. Went to my consult in May 2017. Had to go 3 months no smoking. And now my surgery is scheduled for Sept. 11th.
