Tomorrow's my day....

I go in tomorrow morning at 9:30 to be banded....all sorts of emotions running through my brain......a whole new lifestyle starts tomorrow...and I feel totally unprepared to deal with it....my doctor didn't require a liquid diet pre-op except today and while it hasn't been a joy it really hasn't been that big of a deal....what it did do though was point out just how different my lifestyle was going to be the next 6-8 weeks and then for thereafter...I know this is a good thing....and I know it's something I need to do....it still scares me....

Congratulations on you big day!!

I know exactly how you are feeling... I was feeling the same way before my surgery last week. I think it is a fear of change and not knowing what is on the "other side" of being banded.

It's really not THAT much different, but it will take some getting used to.

You'll like it - we all promise!

LOL.....thanks....and congrats on getting yours done...it is encouraging that the overwhelming majority of people on here look at it as a very positive experience...

Congrats. Mine was about 18 days ago and its a little bit of a change. I started the liquid stuff on my own 2 weeks prior, so it wasnt too bad. Post up when you can and let us know how it went....Dave

I think we all feel like "life as we know it is going to end"....it does...the BAD part. I was surprised at how easily I left that part of me behind...and how thankful. Think about a person who has always been in a wheelchair, getting an operation that is going to put them on their FEET and walking for the first time in their life. Their fears....I am defined by my wheelchair....that's who I am....what happens when I am not "special" like that anymore? How will I feel? The part of your life that you are leaving behind is the unhealthy and bad part of your life. The food will be there. You can eat it. You won't really WANT to...wow...what a concept? Believe me, you will wake up on the other side of the fence as the same person you are today...but with new insight.

Thanks to both of you for the encouragement....had the surgery yesterday...they made me stay overnight because they had a problem with my breathing....my wife stayed with me....she truly is an angel....I could not have made it through the night without her support....I'm still in some significant pain though including one absolutely killer headache that I cant make go away...I'm sure it will pass....then on to a new life...thanks agian for all the support..
