It just depends. Some don't for a while because they are totally bloated from the IV's and the trauma of the surgery itself. Some will see it almost immediately.

Having a surgery like that is a lot of trauma for our bodies. Add in the fact that we can't eat. Our bodies go whacky. That's why it's more important to focus on your surgeons orders of fluids and Protein so healing can start and let the weight loss just happen when it's going to happen and not stress about it.

I've lost 40 pounds total during the first 2 months post-op and 139 pounds total since the beginning of my six-month pre-op diet program. It isn't linear like my almost-clockwork-3-pounds-per-week loss pre-op, but it has always trended downward. I just make sure to hit my Protein and Water goals every day, stay away from carbs, and trust my plan.

Good luck!
