Working backwards : /

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone, I guess you know by now this is my Favorite place to vent.... Ok so I feel like I'm working backwards. I've seen the psychiatrist, had the Upper GI, and they both asked when is your surgery date and I told them I don't have one yet. Then they give me the odd look... And when I look here it seems like everyone does the classes first, well I only had to do 3 and I have 2 classes in one day. So I wonder when she'll give me a surgery date? I hope she gives me time to give my job notice....

I actually did my psych eval and my one nutritionist appointment pretty early in the process. My insurance required six monthly diet visits, and I did the psych eval and nutritionist in the same week during month 2. I was no where near having a surgery date at that point. (I had those appointments in late April and my surgery didn't get scheduled until the end of August for a September 28 surgery date.)

Thanks for your reply @@blizair09 I don't have a 6 month requirement with my insurance and I only have to do 3 classes. So my last class is December 13th, I know she wanted to make sure I was cleared by the other doctors first and I have been. My Labs are done so maybe once I have the EGD she'll submit everything and give me a date. I just can't do last minute arrangements with my job so the sooner the better even if the date change at least I can give them proper notice.

Setting a date was near the end of the process for me. I had to get all my clearances in first and then had a second appt with the surgeon and we picked a date.

My Dr told me I had to do the three classes and nut visits and get psych clearance before getting a date for surery. I go back after 2months to check up on everything and make sure I'm near done.

Every doctor does their practice different, my surgery is on December 16 and i don't actually meet the surgeon till December 7th! "don't worry I know he is a good doctor he is one of the best in orlando plus my mom got her surgery done by him" its just how he runs his practice, so far ive just met his nurse practitioner and patient advocate, they told me everything i needed to get done and all that was was a cardiology clearance, pulmonary clearance, and psychological clearance and once all that was done I got my date, on the 7th after meeting the surgeon to go over how he will preform the surgery and all the info I have a exercise physiology appointment and then a 4 hour nutrition and education class, and then my surgery on the 16th so i didn't have to do any nutrition classes or anything these couple months since i start my journey in july, it just depends how the doctor runs his practice and also if your insurance is covering what they require to be done prior

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
