I had the Duodenal Switch surgery a few years ago and have struggled with getting my Iron supplement in. Because it has to be taken 2-4 hours before/after having Calcium, it takes a lot of planning to make sure they are not conflicting. Then a light bulb came on - we do not absorb nutrients and Vitamins from our food, which is why we have to take all the supplements. So does that mean I can take my iron supplement and still eat cheese and other dairy products inside that 2-4 hour window? Sure would make life easier if we can. My main problem is I forget to take the iron at the time I'm able, and setting an alarm to remind me on my phone or other devices is not an option.
