Totally embarrassed by bodily functions

I'm on the liquid diet before my surgery on the 7th. I'm drinking the Protein shakes as directed. Here is the embarrassing part, I have horrible gas. I am making my room stink. I was staying with my boyfriend last night and I thought I could sneak a couple out after he fell asleep and it was so bad that he woke up! This is so wrong! Will this ever get better? I am toxic and I'm going to start melting paint! Please say I am not the only one who is going through this...

Hmm could it be you're lactose intolerant or something in the type of shakes you're drinking is incompatible with your system? Maybe you can switch to another type of shake...

The smell from gas is caused by the gut bacteria digesting elements of your food (or Protein shakes, in this case) and letting off gas.

It could be that the shakes contain a protein or Fiber that your gut flora can't properly digest, so maybe switching shakes would help. Also, drinking more Water should make the material in your intestines move through quicker and could help.
