Most of us need laxatives after surgery to keep from having a bowel obstruction.

Four days is not normal.

Actually eating too much Protein causes the constipation. Because we are on high protein diet we need laxatives, stool softeners, sometimes suppositories and enemas. Keep eating high protein but add something to counteract the constipation.

I just went 5 days without a bowel movement and as I was talking to my mom on the phone I felt the urge!!! Thank God! Either way I'm going to take a stool softener! Be careful with laxatives, they can deplete you of nutrients (the very little we get) and can dehydrate you! Stool softener is a better route!
