Yes. Some surgeons will require a weight loss pre-op but there's no reason you couldn't decide on bypass.

I started at 429lbs 5'3" and was required by insurance to do a 6 month supervised weight loss program. Surgeon wantes me to lose 40lbs. Day of surgery I was 389lbs ☺

Had it bypass in may and today I am 315lbs.
