Period question ?

My surgery was 26 days ago. I've had a 13 day period and there's no sign of it ending soon. Should I be worried? This is ridiculous I've never experienced this before. I'm taking Iron so I don't become anemic. I feel like it'll never end!

Also it's Saturday so my obgyn isn't even open. I have to deal with this for the weekend not knowing what could be happening to me.

I had the same problem, my obgyn said it can happen after surgery, because of the Heprin. I would cal Monday anyways.

Mine started about ten days early - one day post-op - I was NOT well-prepared for it. I have menorrhagia anyway. I can assure you that 13 days isn't a point where you need to freak out at all. You are also highly unlikely to become anemic from one two-week long period. You might because you aren't able to eat much in the way of iron-rich foods for a while though. Call your doctor on Monday. S/he can likely put you on a course of Provera to stop the period (or possibly on the pill).

Mine lasted about 14 days.

Again, I'd just call on Monday and make an appt with your doctor, if you start to feel weak or light headed go to the hospital. Just keep your fluids up.

I hadn't had a period in over a year. 2 weeks after my surgery I started my period with a vengeance and it lasted 10 days. I was told to watch this and then check in with my gyn. My surgeon said the blood thinner along with the stress my body went through with surgery could trigger it but he hadn't had anyone start their period after not having one for a year.

Same problem - i have endometriosis and I've been bleeding almost a month now... and I'm on continuous bcp. It sucks. My obgyn said it isn't harmful and I just have to get through it. But my endo is rearing it's ugly head and this is the WORST period I've ever had - insanely heavy.

Well the thing is I had a 8 day period then a week later am having this 13 day period. So I've been losing a lot of blood. I already have to take Iron though.

It seems like a lot of blood loss, but your body makes up a lot of it daily (maybe even all of it). You're losing a lot less than you'd think.

Check with your dr sooner than later. I ended up having endometrial ablation because of excessive bleeding that wouldn't stop. It was weight related but years before I had my sleeve surgery. I also had a blood transfusion because of huge loss of blood. Just be careful, it can get serious before you know it.

Well if it makes anyone feel any better, I hadn't had a period in almost 4 years due to having an IUD. Was sleeved 8/4 and have had 3 periods since. I had to go buy tampons, realized I had totally forgotten what kind I used to get!!

Ohhh lucky!!!

I had finished my period 4 days before surgery and it started up again 4 days after surgery and lasted for 7 days. I think our hormones become heightened. They regulated back to normal about 3 months after if that helps at all.

Your body is stressed. When I am stressed, that happens to me. My last one was 8 days and so heavy that I had to stay home from work and in bed because of it.

Phew, glad I'm not alone. Hope it calms for you next month.
