Great morning all!
I had my VSG this past Tuesday. I feel great. I am having a bit of a hard time getting all the Water and Protein in but swallowing is getting easier so I'm sure I will be fine. I wanted to share with you all what seems to be my biggest struggle so far. I have a large family. 5 children and their dad. I came home from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon and since I purchased food they could prepare themselves I didn't have to even go into the kitchen. I planned to prepare meals ahead of time but they didn't want to reheat food. Yesterday, my daughter asked for real food. I wasn't sore or tired at all so I proceeded to prepare dinner for everyone. I made baked ziti with tossed salad and garlic bread. They DEVOURED it. I sat in the family room and watched tv while they ate. After my son cleaned the kitchen and they all found a spot to get cozy and said thanks so much mom. That was delicious! I felt so disconnected from them. We typically eat dinner together and I hadn't realized how important this was to me until I wasn't able to. Is anyone else struggling with this? What do you do while your family is enjoying a meal? I think I may plan to take a walk after dinner is served. Is it hard to cook something for your family and enjoy your water and protein? Also, is it me or does it seem like food commercials are on twice as much and look twice as good? I've been looking for new vsg friendly recipes to try when I am able to eat. Please tell me I'm not the only one!!
