New! being banded in Detriot

I will be banded in Detroit September 21. I am a little nervous knowing it is a lifestyle change. But I am going for it.

Go for it! I am just getting into the band-land. Am a bit scared, too, but am truly glad for the support board.

What was your experience and why did you decide to to there? My reason of course is the money. My friend just had one in Indianapolis and it was 16,000 for hospital and 7,000. for the doctor.

Hello - Thank you for your response! Yes, it's the price that helped me make my decision to go to Detroit. Let's be support buddies... my surgery will be during the second week of October. I will fly from Seattle to Detroit- where are you? Thanks, Barb

I have been investigating this surgery for 5 months. I did go through the doctor here with my insurance but my insurance turned me down. They said I didn't weigh enough. I weigh 212 and I am 5'5". Seattle is a long way to travel. I am only 240 miles from Detroit. I live in Greenwood just South of Indianapolis.

I know you are probable anxious like I am.

Hi Tilly,

Gosh - we are about the same - I am also 5'5 and I weigh 220.... The surgery should make us eat less - shouldn't it.. Are you worried about anything in particular (about the surgery) or after the surgery? Thanks, Barb
