Second belly button

Recommended Posts

All of my sutures are flat and even with my skin and not painful except the large one above my belly button. It is so deep it literally looks like a second belly button! It is so sore and feels like it could pop at any minute. Anyone else have this issue? Is this normal?

That's weird. I can't perceive what you're talking about. I have a legit "second belly button" on my side because when I was in utero I had a stent placed.

The incisions should heal flat like traditional scars. It could be clotting/scabbing which makes it appear more gaping than it actually is.

I'm on my 5th day post lap sleeve & 2 of my incision wounds are indented, precisely the 2nd & the 4th. I guess this is just temporary. Just relax & take it day by day. The scar issue will hopefully resolve over time

15 months out and my incision above the navel looks like a second belly button too

I have this too. I am betting the one you are talking about is the incision they used to remove the excess stomach. I also had a hematoma that formed and then burst, so my scar is easily twice the size of the other incisions and sinks in about a half inch. I am 17 months post surgery, so yeah... it's a forever kind of thing. But honestly, with all of the stretch marks and other scars I have, no one has commented on it yet. It's clearly visible too.

I feel like I have the same thing happening. I think it is probably more pronounced at higher weights. It is looking a bit better, I am only about 4 weeks post-op. But like @@BigViffer said this is the larger incision where the stomach was removed. My nurse told me when I discussed the incisions that hurt more (this one and one on my left), she said stomach one and left are more manipulated during surgery so they hurt a bit more.

I have this too! It's crooked... :/ I'm hoping that, as I lose flab, it flattens out some.

I had this too, and mine was about four inches to the side of my real belly button so it looked really weird.

Luckily it did pop after about three weeks post surgery and now it's flat (well, I can't really call my belly flat, but you know what I mean) just like my other scars. I did ask the nurse after it happened and she said it was fine, that my internal stitches were dissolvable so it must have dissolved and so the skin flattened out again.

Hope yours does too!

So the incision that's on my left side was like this - it was basically like a crater it looked like.. slowly, skin filled it in and it healed up just fine. I was told it did this because that area is more manipulated during surgery and because I had a bad reaction to the gastrographen they did to test for leaks and did a lot of dry heaving about 18 hours after surgery so it opened a bit. But 2 months out it's all filled in.. I can tell the skin there is thinner than other skin as it's still filling in beneath and it's definitely the nastiest looking of my scars, but it seems to be healing! If in doubt give your surgeon a call and ask , especially if you're in pain.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
