Hello I'm 16 months out RNY, went underweight but with much workout and eating little more I'm stable and stronger, finally. Well is time to think about some plastic surgery. I got approved from Tricare for a consultation, and I hope they will help with surgery expense too. So this doctor I meet today advice for a tummy tuck and Brest augmentation.

Possible arm and tights later but I really don't know if I want those visible scars. He told me we can do the tummy and breast on the same day, for a 6 hrs total surgery. Doesn't sound too long to be under anesthesia? How will be the pain level. He thing because I'm thin should be an easy process to do both at the same time. Total cost 14 K - hopefully Tricare will help paying too. Any experience with both surgeries at the same time and Tricare payment?

I had my extended tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation all at one time. It was tough. The pain from the tummy tuck is what you will really struggle with, assuming you have muscle repair (which almost every tummy tuck includes). The recovery is long and you will have significant pain. Please do your research. It is very very serious surgery, so make sure you are prepared to take at least 4-6 weeks off of work and have help around the house. You won't even be able to use the bathroom by yourself for the first few days.

From what I heard from those that underwent plastic surgery, the pain levels they experience from plastic surgery was greater than the pain levels from RNY gastric bypass surgery.

The pain from my sleeve was barely a blip on my radar compared with the pain from plastics. They are no joke!

I just had an arm lift yesterday and I can vouch for the fact that the pain level of plastics is definately greater than RNY but so darn worth it.

My arms were the worst and in 3 months I will have a Abdominalplasty and breast lift with augmentation. Following that I am considering a lower body lift with a thigh lift.

For me, insurance does not cover a dime of the surgery. It is all out of pocket and must be paid in advance. They were willing to help with interest free financing but I have been saving money for this for a long time knowing I would want to have my arms done.

My arm lift cost - 5950.00

My Tummy tuck and breast lift with augmentation cost - 16,700.00 that includes one night in the hospital.

I can honestly say already that the pain and scars are well worth the trade off for me. I have been at goal since March of this year and simply could not lose my big arms. My surgeon used a technique where she does lipo to remove the fat first and then removes the skin which means she can get them pretty darn small.

The next 3 month wait is going to take forever to get here. In terms of the pain from Abdominalplasty, my surgeon will be adding a pain pump right into the site which should help with pain for the first few days.

You can go home, but you won't be in any shape to fend for yourself. And yes, the pain is much much worse and lasts much much longer. With my sleeve the "pain", if you can even call it that, lasted maybe 3-4 days? I was still recovering from my TT for probably a good 3 months post-op. The numbness and phantom pain/itching lasted at least 2 years. I would say it was a good 3 years before my scars were completely faded and the numbness and phantom pain/itching were minimal.

But, don't get me wrong! It was totally worth all of that!

Don't be sorry. Like I said, it was well worth it in the end. My recovery took a little longer than most because I had a complication of Fluid pooling in my lower back, which caused very painful swelling. I think the phantom pain and itching from the severed nerves takes close to 2 years for just about everyone. Don't worry, it will only drive you crazy for the first couple of months, then you just get used to it.

Wait you mean there's still a chance the numbness will go away? I'm a year and a couple months out and still have numbness I figured it was permanent at this point! Get the phantom itching occasionally too

I'm echoing that the TT/plication was so worth it... Now...

Those first few weeks were difficult.... It was the getting up and lying down that took some clever maneuvering.

Glad I had help the first few days.

Numbness and some itching is par for the plastic surgery. You get used to it very fast. And much feeling comes back. ( not all for me, but a lot)

I still have numb areas, but nothing like it was in the early going. Just a few spots now.
