Hernias after WLS

How can you tell if you have a hernia?

Also, I noticed that since surgery I have a bruise between 2 incisions. It has been gettimg darker and if I put any pressure on it, I can feel a hard bump over it. What could that be?

I have never had any sort of surgery, so I might be over thinking or making something out of nothing. I just need some piece of mind. I won't be to the surgeon's office until next Friday.

Thanks!

You really should show your surgeon and ask him/her about that.

It sounds like it might be a hernia, but they will be able to tell you for sure.

Generally after surgery, you are placed on a blood thinner to prevent blood clots from forming. This is only for a short time for a week or two. But because of that your body will bruise really really easily. My body looked terrible for around the first month after surgery. It was all black and blue.

I will definitely be asking about this to my surgeon. I'm not too concerned about the bruises. It's the lumps I feel underneath them that concern me.
