Airport security issues ?

I'm 4 years post op gastric sleeve. I've traveled via airplane this week for the first time since I had surgery.

When I left Thursday I had to be patted down due to an anomaly showing up on the scanner.

The same thing happened to me today going through security a little while ago.

I'm not wearing the same clothes as I was on Thursday so that's out. The tsa agent patting me down asked if I had ever had any abdominal surgeries. I told them I had.

Anyone else experience this? It kind of surprised me. I got to see the area in question both days and it's the exact same area on my body both times. Before anyone asked about surgeries, I was starting to feel this could be due to my sleeve.

The scanner would not pick up anything on the inside like staples. They are not Iron or steel, so they won't set off a metal detector. Surgery scars shouldn't be a problem, but lose skin might be a

Reminds me of a season 4 episode of Orange Is The New Black, just don't bathe for several days or put some dabs of tuna fish juice behind your ear, you won't get selected for pat downs!

I flew 3 weeks ago and left my food in my purse, both ways, and they didn't ask me to remove it.

Asked about food again on the return flight. Do I just look like I'm trafficking in explosive botanicals or something?

Also, new horrible TSA scanner revelation: apparently shapewear can ALSO set off the sensor. Not even wires or any sort of corseting, just a lightweight spanx-type-thing. The (very nice) TSA lady who patted me down in ways you really shouldn't have to cope with in public told me that compression garments can read as some sort of density aberration and the software flags it. The hell?!

So now in the past few months I've managed to get pulled by the TSA for: the swelling/density of my recent-surgery stomach; lentils and string cheese; SPANX. I look forward to them rediscovering the metal pins in my ankle next trip.
