Last Visit before surgery

Hi all I'm new to the forum! I have my last follow up with my surgeon in 5 days. Originally I was going to do the band but the surgeon is encouraging me to change to the sleeve since I have a history of BED.

Welcome! Have you been to see a therapist regarding the BED? That is something you will want to deal with when getting any WLS.

Yes I have been in treatment and still talk to my therapist when needed. My surgeon seemed slightly shocked I admitted the BED evidently most keep that to themselves. My phyc eval cleared me for surgery.

@@smartj84 Great! Sounds like you are in the right frame of mind! Sadly, many seem to omit this important info to Psych and surgeon and end up with serious issues post-op.

Thanks!! I'm trying to wrap my head around the idea of the sleeve over the band. I think with the band my brain thought it would still have some control and the sleeve it has none. It will be interesting to see what the Dr says. The more I read the forums the more I'm becoming comfortable with the sleeve.

@@smartj84 I went to surgeon thinking I wanted the Band and after discussing all of the problems people have (50-60% require a secondary surgery) I decided on sleeve. Reading similar stories on here about Band I am glad I didn't go in that direction. I have over 140lbs to lose too.
