Aug/Sept Exercise Challenge

Yippee! The Crazy Ates first Exercise Challenge!

The good news for you all is that I am just about as low as you can get on the scale of exercise. That means I'll keep the challenges simple and manageable at any level :D

We will all be in the process of pre-op or recovery through August and September. So, lets start simple and healthy with the goal of CREATING AN EXERCISE HABIT. You could walk from the chair to the bathroom, move your arms, do housework, etc. This is about being mindful of moving your body as a part of getting healthy and losing weight! Professionals say it takes 21 consecutive days to create a habit. It doesn't matter what you do or for how long. What matters is that you do it every day with intention!

great job Texas Becky on your 21 days!!!

Thanks Chinokitty. Congrats are in order for you too. I saw your post about being down a size. Way to go!

Today instead of walking I worked in the yard for 1.5 hours. It was harder than walking!

22/21 days of mindful exercise

I haven't been very good at posting, but I have been exercising and I guess that is the important part.

I walk at least 1/2 hour though last night it was a little longer because football was on and I finished watching the game.

11/21 Days of Mindful Exercise

I just stretch my calves under the table anytime I am at a meeting or anytime I must sit for a while.

I went back to work, where I walk all day. I can't wait to get a pedimeter and measure how far I really walk.

Walked one hour again today... Today I completed the challenge to do 21 days of mindful exercise. Woo Hoo! Since there are 13 more days in September I'm going to set another goal of 8 more days of mindful exercise this month.

CONGRATULATIONS, Becky!!!:whoo:

I walk at least 1/2 hour

Good job! Every bit COUNTS! :clap2:

I just stretch my calves under the table anytime I am at a meeting.

That's exactly what this challenge is all about-- get us thinking about exercise every day. Those stretches add up! Keep up the great work! :cheer2:

Two hours of yard work today.

24/21 days of mindful exercise

You should post a picture of your yard :)

I finally had to take a day off from walking, but I think I may have gotten in more exercise than normal. I chaperoned a school dance and probably walked around the perimeter of the commons about 100 times. However it wasn't "mindful exercise" so I didn't count it!

15/21 Days of Mindful Exercise

I've been having internet access problems (boo Time Warner) so haven't been able to post for a few days.

I walked for 35 minutes on 9/23 and 48 minutes on 9/24 and more yard work everyday!

Chinokitty, I'd post a picture of the yard if I could figure out how. It does look pretty darn good if I do say so myself. Of course, it should with all the time I've spent working on it lately! It is getting easier (thank goodness) as I am losing weight and building stamina and strength.

Walk, walk, walk. I will be so glad when we get our DVD player hooked up in the room that my treadmill is in. I am getting really tired of looking at the same spot in the room. The music just isn't keeping my eyes off of that dang clock that ticks away so slowly!

i havent been on the site in a while, but i have been walking! you all are doing really well!

I'm BAAAACK!!!

Didja miss me?

I finally clocked my distance and time today -- 1.1 miles at 27 minutes. Doesn't seem like a whole lot, but considering I couldn't/WOULDN'T attempt to make it to the mailbox a few months ago, I'LL TAKE IT!!!!

Anyway -- I made the 21/21....just barely squeaking in!

Types of exercise I could choose from: I have been doing 30 minutes on the treadmill every morning. I have just started riding my bike with my son. Have to say it makes my butt hurt. lol

Good luck everyone!
