Merry Christmas!

Hello! Looks like I am the first one here. I was supposed to get banded in April, then May, and then we finally figured out that my insurance won't pay for it till I have been specifically and ONLY for weight loss (visits for that topic only) for 6 mos. So that's where I am at. After 6 mos of doctoring for weight loss if I have not lost weight I will be approved for the lapband. So, looks like it will be my Christmas present!!!! Let's hope!!!

Anyone else aiming for December?? :whoo:

So far so good. Having the flu I think is actually helping. I can't really taste anything so the temptation to force something down is greatly diminished. Maybe if I'm lucky, it will last for 3 more days until the worst of the real hunger is gone:)

I haven't been sick for about five years, and I'm a firm believer in all things happening for a reason, so I'm trying to embrace this. Better now than immediately afer surgery anyway.

Of course I had the flu yesterday and I still managed to worry down a leftover turkey sandwich at 10:30 last night because I wanted to have my last hurrah. So silly. But today, the switch has turned off and it's all good.

On to better things!!!

Oh Carol.....

I can relate so well!!

I tried to experiment with a pre op prior to the actual.... NO LUCK!!!

I started official pre op on Wed. (the day before Turkey Day) so far so good.... We will see!!!

Hang in there.... I keep taking things an hour at a time!!

New Blue

Glad things went okay today!!! I think the first day was the biggest challenge for me!!! Keep posting... I like to hear how everyone is doing with this. It helps, especially when we are all at the same stage!

Newblue, I noticed we have the same surgery date. I started my pre-op diet today. I'm praying that it gets easier, lol all i have thought about all day is food. 13 days till surgery...

lol I am having a party the weekend before I go on the liquid diet. All my friends are making their favorite dish. and we are watching movies. I figure I can get it all out of the way then. I have bought all my protein powder and working on buying all the other stuff I need.

hello all,

i have finished my appointments with the nutritionist today and also was cleared by the cardiologist. 1 more appointment with my pcp on tues . it has been a long 6 months of all these doctors appointments. but it will be worth it when i get that phone call from the insurance co that i am approved. keeping my fingers crossed. i joined a gym today with my husband. i figured i would get started with that too. how is everyone else doing??

OK I am glad to hear that others can't quite stick to the pre-pre-op diet. I start my pre-op two week liquid diet on December second so I decided to do a low-cal diet for a week before to ease into the starvation thing. I have only fell off the wagon a couple of times but am getting nervous about staying on the liquid diet with parties and such. I was thinking today of inviting a friend over for dinner for her birthday this month and even bought a great bottle of wine before I remembered oh yeah I can't eat anything (or drink!!!!:faint:). I am seriously beginning to wonder how this will effect our social life since I love to cook and most family get-togethers are at our house. :) Also - I want to punch my obnoxious brother-inlaw. His daughter (my niece) just had the band done in October and every time he sees me he says things like enjoy that pizza because you won't be eating that again or you know you can't drink beer because it is carbonated. I think after I lose my weight and get in shape I will challenge him to a race or something I am sure I could take him since the only heavy lifting he does is a twelve pack of Coors!
