Constipation

This is my first post.

I'm due to have my surgery next Tuesday, but my milk and yogurt diet has made me so constipated, I've been drinking loads of Water so don't understand why I'm so constipated. What are the best laxatives to use at this stage ?

You might try Miralax. It is very gentle. Many others drink a tea called Smooth Move tea which contains senna or you can buy SennaLax (senna in pill form). Colace works if you aren't too bad.

And I am sorry to tell you this, but it only gets worse after surgery, so if you can find something that works for you now, it may be your best friend for a while!

Congrats and good luck on your surgery next week!

Thanks choicemun, I've never heard of that one before, I might try that in the morning, I'm just concerned about what I can take as I don't want to ruin all my hard work so far on this diet

Yes @John1958. Presuming you are in the States, yes those things should generally be available anywhere like Walmart, Target, grocery stores, pharmacy, etc.

I thought you might be elsewhere. Hope you can find something!

I take a chewable probiotic called FloraVantage Chewable. It's from the Bariatric Advantage brand. It has really improved my digestion/bathroom trips. :) Also, Smooth Move tea. Works wonders and very gentle on the tummy!
