Five Days Post-Op & First real test

I had surgery just this past Friday. About fifteen minutes ago, I received a phone call from my sister, informing me that my grandmother passed away. When I was younger, I was particularly close to her. Then, I moved across country and hadn't traveled home to see her in a few years.

She was 103 years old, so I am not truly surprised, especially since she had had two recent heart attacks that resulted in her being placed in a nursing home. She hated being there, and I feel her spirits were crushed.

food has always been my coping mechanism. Feel happy. Get a treat. Feel sad. Get a pick-me-up. Well, now that a good portion of my stomach is gone, I'm going to have to find something--rather quickly--to help me get through this time.

Sorry for unloading. Writing helps me process my emotions.

Thanks everyone. I've done a pretty good job of avoiding those foods; however, the problem I am encountering is finding Protein shakes. We're in a small town. The best I could do is a low-carb Slim Fast shake with high protein. But that is about 17 grams. My sister had a Afkins Lift Protein Drink with 20g but she had to pick it up from another town. I'm actually struggling to meat my protein goals.

I am making french onion Soup for a really late dinner. Tomorrow, I'll try to find Premier Protein.
