Post Op Swelling

I didn't see this anywhere else. How long does it take after being banded for the swelling to subside? I was banded on Weds and have alot of swelling on one side of my stomach. I go back to work on weds. and am starting to get nervous about having pants that will fit and be comfortable.

Dear Brandi,

I can so relate to post-op swelling. I was so swollen that I literally gained 11 pounds the first week after surgery. It took my abdomen a solid 2 weeks to go down. If I were you I would get some sweat pants or very loose elastic pants to go back to work. Good luck!

Yup. I determined that when I get real nervous or excited, there is an increase in stomach acids and that has an impact on my stomach swelling. Having said that, I was probably puffy for about a month and it gradually went down. I have days where it's really flat and days where I have a muffin top.

I am almost 2 weeks post op. and I still have swelling between my band and port incisions. It is very uncomfortable (but not painful) to drive or sit up straight. I freak myself out thinking I had either developed a hernia or had some internal bleeding. an ice pack helps sometimes..feels good to numb it down.
