I just started my 2 week pre op liquid diet this morning.

Surgeon says no coffee.

But I can have plain decaffeinated coffee.

--And let me tell you, I'm about falling asleep at my desk right now. No coffee sucks.

    I think it depends on the surgeon; mine said I could have plain black coffee...

    regular black coffee was on my pre-op list but it was STRONGLY suggested I quit it altogether, as it's not something you can drink after surgery, and weaning off of caffeine while trying to heal from major abdominal surgery does not sound like a fun experience to me.

    all the info I've gotten is that coffee is okay. BUF decaf isn't a big thing here in sweden so I don't think anyone would think to nix caffeine altogether.

    My surgeon and Nut said coffee was fine but I had already switched to decaf thinking I would have to. I'm planning on staying off coffee for now.

    My dietician was fine with it too. Within reason. Pre and post op. However I just don't have the desire for it like I used to pre op.

    So what is it? I'm a huge coffee drinker, fully loaded caffeine. I'm having the mini bypass in June in Tiajuana. After surgery is caffeine gone for our life? I'm willing to give it up if I have to, just gonna be rough:)
