Post Op -- Drinking with Meals.

I remember being told earlier in my process that you have to stop drinking something like 1/2 hour before meals and not to drink anything until after at least 20 minutes after a meal.

I would like to know what the reasons are for this particular rule. I should have asked but I didn't.

My doc says you can drink anything before, and 1/2 hour after. The reason for this is so that your solid food doesn't become liquified and go thru the band too early....if it does, you'll be hungry soon after! It also makes stretching of your pouch more possible and that's not good.

HTH!

What Terry said. Except my docs rules are stop 15 minutes before eating, and no drinking for 45-60 minutes after. It's hard sometimes, but I rarely even think about it now.
