Is it normal to feel nauseated.......

.....when I wake up? I feel very nauseated/queasy and can't eat or drink until I have been up for a while.

Tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post-op.

Thanks!

Lainie, what stage are you on now - liquids, mushies, etc.? Are you drinking enough water during the day? If you're dehydrated, that will make you nauseated (and cause other problems - such as muscle cramps, fainting.) Please avoid that happening. I have never been one to be able to eat first thing in the a.m. (even preband). But I can drink o.k. If I wait an hour or two, I can eat then. Hope you get to feeling better soon!

I did have some occasional waves of nausea when I was first out of surgery, but it seems to have passed once I started getting regular protein. Like Marie said, just be sure not to let yourself become dehydrated. Sometimes, it even helps to have something with a bit of sugar in it when you're nauseated. I hope you're doing better soon!
